BC SUMMER GAMES
2006 - held in Kamloops
Reining * Dressage * Jumper
Age Qualifications:
A minimum of 13 years of age and a maximum of 18 years of age as of January 1, 2006.
Eligibility Requirements
Competitors must reside in the zone for which they are competing. They must compete with the same horse they qualified on. Riders must be members in good standing of Horse Council BC.
Riders may enter only one discipline at the Games but may attempt to qualify in any discipline. Competitors and horses who have placed individually or as a team, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th in national or international competitions 2004 or 2005 are not eligible to compete in that discipline. Athletes cannot compete in a discipline if they attended a Games in that particular discipline, but can compete in a different discipline.
Rider/Horse combinations cannot have been named in the top four of the top ten Reining Canada youth riders.
National Reining Horse Association rules apply for Reining. All event are open to male and female equally.
Qualifying competitions may use any of the 10 NRHA patterns. Patterns for the Games will be announced prior to the start of the Games.
How to Qualify:
Riders and horses qualify as a team so the rider must qualify on the horse he or she intends to compete on at the BC Summer Games. Rider/horse combinations who compete at sanctioned qualifier classes will have their scores recorded for those classes. The horse/rider combination with the highest score in each of the zones will qualify to compete at the BC Summer Games for their zone. Riders are encouraged to compete at as many qualifiers as possible and their highest score will be used in calculating their standing within their zone. All qualifiers will have NRHA judges. Due to the age restrictions the classes will not be NRHA approved so riders will not be required to have NRHA membership nor do the horses require NRHA licenses. Riders can attend and declare at any sanctioned qualifier class however their scores will be recorded for the zone they live in regardless of which zone the competition takes place in. A rider declaration form must be filled out by the competitor prior to competing in the qualifying classes at the competition. Declaration forms can also be obtained from the show secretary. Each discipline sport chair will work with the zone reps to determine the team for each zone based on competition results. All summer games participants will be notified of the team members by June 26, 2006.
FOR A LIST OF SHOWS THAT WILL INCLUDE QUALIFIER CLASSES PLEASE SEE CALENDAR OF EVENTS PAGE ON THE WCRA WEBSITE.
